Liners Some do and some don't (use liners). It's entirely up to you. Disposable liners are easy to handle and get rid of the bulk of waste but fleece liners are kinder to the skin.	Boosters & inserts You don't have to use the manufacturer's boosters but obviously you will get the best fit if you do.
