How many nappies?

We can give you guidance on how many nappies to buy depending on how often you will wash them.  Do please feel free to call for personal advice on 01536 216134

Most babies get through around 7 nappies a day so the minimum you require would be about 10 nappies to last while the washing is drying.  Most parents have about 15 nappies and wash every other day.  If you use separate wraps then you will probably need about 3 wraps to 7 nappies when your baby is young but less wraps to nappies as your baby gets older (after about 10 months).  Our advice is to start with a small amount and build up your collection.  We also recommend using a mixture of styles of nappy to meet different needs such as stuffables for outings, pocket style natural fabric nappies (cotton/bamboo/hemp) for night time and your favouite nappy for most daytime use as well as a couple of boosters to provide extra absorbency when required.

*** personal note *** I started with a mixed trial pack and found my favourite style and fastening from there.  I preferred nippa fastening for newborn as it was more flexible and less bulky than aplix.   I bought 4 of one type, 8 of another and 2 of another.  I used wraps and ended up with 6 that I liked and 1 from the trial pack that I used for emergencies. The wraps dry much faster than the nappies so get back in the cycle much quicker.   I am fortunate enough to have a washing line and a tumble drier and I wash every 2nd day or so.  I also use disposables for outings.

We do not sell complete birth to potty kits because we believe (very strongly) that a mixture of nappies should be used.  We hear time and again of people who have purchased the entire kit from one manufacturer and then not got on with it.  We also want to leave you free to buy more yummy wraps and nappies as you go rather than committing to one fabric or style.

In fact we recommend that you don't purchase more than 6 or 7 nappies at a time.  If you really like them then you can always come back to us and buy some more or even better, ask a friend or relative to buy you a gift voucher for you to spend as you wish.
