My name is Kate Lewis and I set up Nappy Central in 2006 after the birth of my son (Dylan) who is a willing tester and model for the nappies.  It is very much a family-run business with my husband Kenny and my daughter Sam mucking in where they can.  They also have to live with stacks of nappies dotted all over the place.

Luckily (for Dylan) I had quite a complicated birth and stayed in hospital much longer than I expected.  I was so bored that I ended up reading some of the magazines in the hospital including a mag called BabyGroe.  I couldn't wait to get home afterwards to jump onto the internet to see what all the adverts for washable nappies were about.  They all looked so yummy.  I ended up buying a starter pack and built up my collection from there.

I started off just being a user of washable nappies.  I found it so difficult to imagine how the nappies worked and those who already used them seemed to be talking a different language.  I thought that washable nappies were just terry squares with complicated folds, crackly plastic pants and fiendish nappy pins.  In fact I had tried using terry squares with my first daughter (born in 1989) and soon gave up.  Soon after starting to use the nappies and as the date for returning to work loomed I realised that there was no way I was going back to work full time and miles away so decided to set up a company to sell these wonderful nappies.  (Since this picture was taken we have swapped hair styles!)

I support UK brands as much as possible and I try to get to all the baby fairs in my area (Northamptonshire) so that I can show parents what the nappies look like and how to use them.  The feedback I have had is amazing.  So many parents are encouraged by how easy the nappies are to use and I am really happy to report that the number of cloth nappy users is increasing all the time.

Having come from a service industry in my previous life I am very keen to provide a service that people will recommend.  I usually ship orders on the same day or next day.  The web site is updated when stocks are low and I make sure that all enquiries are dealt with as quickly as possible.  I am happy to say that I have not had a single complaint about the service or quality of the nappies and I intend to continue this trend.

Sadly we are planning potty training this summer (and no more babies) but there are plenty of little testers around us now who are can try out all the new products so I am confident that only the best will make it to these pages.
